★★★★★Frequently Asked Questions
Is Local CI affiliated with CircleCI®?
No, it’s not.
What do I need to use this?
CircleCI®, macOS, Docker, and VS Code.
If you don’t have a CircleCI® account, you can get started with CircleCI® for free.
Is there a free trial?
Yes, there’s a 30-day free trial, no credit card needed.
You can start a free trial by installing Local CI.
There’s a free CircleCI® CLI that runs jobs locally. Why should I pay for this VS Code Extension when that’s free?
That CLI is really good. Local CI uses it.
And if that lets you debug your CI, you should use that.
Local CI makes it easy to have shell access to the job as it’s running, and after it exits.
It also persists the workspace between jobs, so you can run a whole workflow.
Those are things that it’s hard to do in a CLI.
But I’m very thankful for the CircleCI CLI, and you should use that if it suits your use case.
How hard is it to cancel?
It’s easy, just log into your account and click to cancel your subscription.
When you buy a license, you’ll get an account with a password.
Simply use that password to log in, and cancel your subscription.
If you forget your password, click ‘Lost Password’ and it’ll email you a link to reset it.
Will this save me money on the CircleCI® service?
Probably not. It might save a little money on credits from not re-running failed jobs.
But not when considering the price of Local CI.
The idea of Local CI is to let you debug much faster.
Will I be locked into Local CI?
No, you don’t have to change any code to use this.
You can end your license any time, and go back to using CircleCI® just like before.
